Vice Chancellor's Operating Principles for Leading & Managing OOA
The Vice Chancellor has ultimate accountability for the stewardship of university resources and for ensuring that OOA business practices are founded on principles of integrity, transparency and efficiency.
The Vice Chancellor is responsible for providing the support, communication, clarification of expectations, direction and feedback appropriate to help each Division Head be successful.
The Vice Chancellor is responsible for ensuring that OOA services support the achievement of the UC Davis vision and priorities as established by the executive leadership of campus.
The Vice Chancellor is committed to ensuring that OOA’s mission, vision and values are actualized throughout our organization.
The Vice Chancellor maintains the widest perspective of campus and OOA’s needs and holds ultimate responsibility in directing and redirecting resources to meet these needs.
The Vice Chancellor identifies and champions strategic initiatives that he believes will advance the organization in critical areas.
The Vice Chancellor’s office helps OOA units be successful by providing advice, consultation and support in areas of greatest complexity and risk, including human resources, budget and space management.
The Vice Chancellor’s office seeks to have consistency in operating practices where these operating practices impact the achievement of OOA’s mission, vision and values.
The Vice Chancellor believes that the best decisions and growth in an organization come about when the senior leadership team openly shares disagreements and opinions, and ultimately supports decisions reached. It is the Vice Chancellor’s expectation that the VC leadership team will function in this manner.
The OOA Division Heads and Vice Chancellor’s office staff work to assist the Vice Chancellor in achieving the above and are held accountable for achieving the results and meeting expectations articulated.
